Montemelino - Organic Biodynamic wines from Umbria
Thanks to the good exposure of the vineyards, the mild climate of Lake Trasimeno and the passion of the family, the farm has been producing excellent wines for over 50 years.
Montemelino: A quiet Umbrian icon
Perched above Lake Trasimeno, Montemelino is a small, family-run estate in Umbria making honest wines and extra virgin olive oil since 1961. With just a few hectares of vineyards and olive trees, the farm is a sanctuary for slow cultivation, native grapes, and traditional winemaking.

Native grapes, local identity
The estate focuses on traditional Umbrian and central Italian grapes like Grechetto, Trebbiano, and Sangiovese. These varieties thrive in Montemelino’s natural setting, producing wines that are rustic, pure, and deeply rooted in place—wines meant for the table, not the trophy shelf.

Wine and Olive since 1961
Montemelino was born from a passion for the land. Since the early '60s, the family has cultivated vineyards and olive groves side by side - always organically, always by hand. The same care is given to the wine and the oil, each a pure reflection of their shared terroir.

Terroir with a View
Montemelino’s vineyards overlook Lake Trasimeno, where the clay and sandy soils retain water and heat while staying well-aerated. The microclimate - tempered by the lake’s breeze - encourages slow ripening and subtle aromatics in both white and red varietals.

Hands in the vines
Every step of the vineyard work is done manually - from pruning to harvest. This hands-on approach ensures careful selection and minimal intervention, letting nature and time take the lead. With no machinery between rows, the vines grow with balance, and the wines speak softly but clearly.

Montemelino Bianco: Light, Salty, Alive
This Grechetto and Trebbiano blend is all about quiet charm. Citrus zest, white flowers, and a touch of almond meet a salty, mouthwatering finish. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in cement, it’s a clean, lo-fi white wine perfect for slow afternoons and simple meals.
