Poggio Mandorlo - Minimal intervention wines from Tuscany
Gems of Tuscany, Poggio Mandorlo wines walk the tightrope of both elegance and structure, finesse and intensity. They’re true originals that evade definition.
Poggio Mandorlo: A Dream rooted in Montecucco
Born from the shared vision of four lifelong friends, Poggio Mandorlo is a wine estate nestled at the foot of Monte Amiata. Since 2001, the team has cultivated Bordeaux and Tuscan varietals in harmony with the land -crafting elegant, powerful wines that express the soul of southern Tuscany.

Sustainability from soil to cellar
Poggio Mandorlo was designed with minimal environmental impact in mind. The winery is built into the hillside, using recycled local stone and natural ventilation. In the vineyard, constant breezes and wild flora support healthy vines—no shortcuts, just low-intervention care and respect for nature at every step.

Monte Amiata - Terroir under the Volcano
The winery is located at the foot of the volcano The estate lies within the Montecucco DOC, between the Val d’Orcia and the Maremma. Vines grow on clay-limestone soils rich in tufa and galestro, cooled by breezes from Monte Amiata. These natural conditions preserve freshness, support full ripening, and yield grapes of great balance and depth.

Bordeaux meets Tuscany
Rare Merlot and Cabernet Franc clones from Saint-Émilion meet Montalcino Sangiovese in the Poggio Mandorlo vineyards. Adapted to the Tuscan terroir, these grapes create bold yet refined wines, uniting French elegance with Italian structure. Each clone is carefully selected and farmed with intent.

Il Guardiano & La Querce: Montecucco in Motion
These two Sangiovese-led wines are signatures of the estate. Il Guardiano is fresh and vibrant, while La Querce shows complexity and aging potential. Both embody the racy style and balance that define Montecucco - where mountain meets sun and tradition meets precision.

La Querce: The Heart of Montecucco
La Querce is Poggio Mandorlo’s most refined expression of Sangiovese. Grown on the higher slopes of the estate and aged with care, it balances power and elegance. Expect aromas of wild cherry, sweet herbs, and forest floor, with fine tannins and a long, mineral finish. A true ambassador of Montecucco’s depth and potential.
