Grabovio is a grounded yet vibrant red, defined by remarkable freshness born of altitude and stone. Grown at 600 metres above sea level in the hills of Gubbio, on intensely stony, chalk-rich soils, it comes from 80–90-year-old vines that naturally deliver energy, clarity and tension.
A balanced blend of Barbera, Merlot, Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo, the grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected, then fermented spontaneously with minimal sulphur and no filtration. A relatively short maceration preserves brightness and lift, while ageing in vitrified cement and extended bottle rest allow the wine to settle into a poised, transparent expression.
Despite its gentle extraction, Grabovio shows an intense, vibrant colour. Aromatically, it moves beyond fruit into nuance: dark cherry and red plum layered with hints of medlar, dried herbs and a distinctly mineral character — evocative of wet gravel or warm concrete just after summer rain. The palate is supple yet defined, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a savoury, mineral finish that lingers with quiet confidence.
