A hidden gem - not yet rated on Vivino.
The sea isn't in the glass, but you'll swear it is.
Some wines shout. This one whispers... and somehow ends up stealing the whole conversation.
Made from 50-year-old Malvasia Istriana vines growing just a few kilometres from the Slovenian border, San Lurins is a beautifully restrained Pét-Nat that reflects one of Italy's most fascinating wine regions. The limestone-rich soils and cool breezes from the Isonzo River give the wine its unmistakable salty edge—a freshness that keeps pulling you back for another sip.
Marco Pecorari farms organically, harvests everything by hand, and lets the wine evolve with as little intervention as possible. Only the free-run juice is used before the wine is bottled to finish its fermentation naturally, then left to rest on lees for over a year, creating a fine, delicate sparkle and remarkable texture.
Expect aromas of lime blossom, grapefruit peel and Mediterranean herbs, followed by crisp citrus, green apple and a long, mouthwatering mineral finish. Bone dry, vibrant and quietly complex, this is the kind of sparkling wine that disappears from the bottle much faster than expected.
