The name alone earns a pause. Honesta Missio: the honourable discharge granted to a Roman gladiator who'd proved his worth. A fitting tribute for a Sauvignon Blanc grown from a biotype dating back to 1850, a rare old survivor still doing what it was born to do.

On the nose: ripe pear drifting into something more tropical, threaded with wild herbs and a quiet, honeyed complexity. The palate follows through with real presence that is layered and rich, but kept honest by the kind of focused acidity that makes you reach for another sip.

With time in bottle, smoke and a savoury undercurrent start to creep in.

Age-worthy, but don't wait on principle, as it's already a beautiful thing right now.
